Well.. now that i have roos.. im totally thinking baby chicks! But im beyond my legal limit (my neighbors won't tell, they want me to have more!!) So this is a bad temptation to have!!
We have two neighbors that wouldnt tell, and then there is a tarp blocking the back because one day our backdoor neighbor shot something at them. We were in our garage right next to the coop and it hit the garage. But otherwise the neighbor across the street would tell to. So we can only have 5 chickens.

Lolol that's me! My brain hasn't been "normal" the past 12 years now with chronic health problems...so for some dumb reason that's the "sound" I came up with when I call them or talk to then. Weird I know. My son-in-law said one sound I do sounds like a dove so heck if I know!
Hey it works...they also come to "come on babies!"
Oh i do the same.. but I also have a parrot! She started screaming when she heard it.. thought it was her people!

Beautiful!! I like the one silkie that looks a bit mille fleur....
Oh man, I really wanna start a mille fleur project but the colour is only in Pekin Bantams here and rare as anything. I thought there wasn't any Silkies in my area at all, so when saw these guys, snapped them up and drove the 1.5 hours to get them. Owner has no idea, just that the little one is crossed with a Pekin... I'm hoping like anything that she is mille fleur and also has some Pekin heritage and got it from there, but it really was a random blind purchase, where the owner said she was "brown" and surely I wouldn't get so lucky. Really a one in a million chance that it would ever happen up here lol. They were all hatched Winter last year, so be about roughly six months now.

Oh congratulations on the new babies! Do you think you'll keep any of Kana's little blues? ❤️
I would love to! Genetically speaking only 25% chance of getting blues with her and so far every one of them (3) have been blue, so maybe I am pressing my luck expecting more!🤣
All three have great feet and second toe feathering.
Also a 25% chance of getting blue paint, that would be cool. Still have quite a few of her eggs brewing. She is a blue partridge, so all the chicks will be recessive to partridge.😊
Mixed color flock bred for fluffiness mostly!🤣
If I had room for a second rooster I would get a blue one and have two different pens. Maybe someday!
Still need to figure out what I am doing with my birds.🥰

I think you could add them pretty easily! Ill take a pic if you'd like to build something. I think using a dog kennel tray or vinyl flooring would work attached to a frame.
Mine being outside now probably is too warped to try to do anything else with...and the way I "drag" it here n there I'll just admire yours! 🤪

Pictures please 😃

Something funny happened. We did have a chives in a pot, such one one gets in supermarkets or health stores. After having read that chickens can eat chives, we decided to give it to them to keep them occupied and placed the pot in their run so they could start to 'work' on it. First day they didn't seemed to be very happy with or impressed by the chives. But then the following two days they gave that little pot a steady haircut till there was just a hedgehog cut left. This weekend we did have soft boiled eggs for breakfast and my egg tasted unmistakeably of chives 😄
We decided that next time we will place chives only for an hour a day in the run 😁

I do have a question - my Brioche always scratches at the waterer (the ring formed part where the reachable water is in) when going to drink. She is the only one doing this (the waterer is such a regular one for chickens, standing elevated on three little legs) - does anybody have somebody doing this, too?

...And here is a funny picture of Snowman, today it has been very stormy, that's why he looks so 'driven'😂View attachment 2979233
WOW!!!😍😍😍

As promised heres a short clip of Joey doing his "honk" for lack of a better way of putting it...sounds little whiny. Definitely not his crow cuz I've seen and heard him do this.
He does it a lot more and constantly when he is out in the run...and has a little elevated pitch to it when I walk away.
So what do yall think?
I love Joey!😍
My Polkies make the same sound (all female).🥰
