my eggs started to hatch. I have had 2 mistery eggs, either silkie (from my rip roo) or pekin. I helped a chick get out as membrane was as thick as leather and I think it is a beautiful black silkie:weeI didn't want to examine the chick as it is still weak but it seems it has 5 toes. another one is hatching as well as one brahma and one leghorn. I have 3 eggs more, 2 brahma and 1 leghorn.

Congratulations - can't wait to see pics!!!

I noticed Grayson acting more gentlemanly yesterday....showing the girls treats he found and stuff. He's been much more eager to come to me as well still not crowing much though. I have noticed Joey isn't crowing now ...then I opened coop door this morning to find Grayson dancing up to Zoey and then trying to do the doo...they are only 3 months old tomorrow!

What kind of materials do you use in the run? Deep litter? Does it ever get wet at all in covered run area?
I use large flake pine shavings in the run, spot clean daily but no major cleaning maybe every 3 to 4 months at most.
Using sand/PDZ mixture under the roosts helps keep everything clean and easy to maintain.
I also sprinkle PDZ out in the run as needed to keep smell and flies down.
The edges of the run get wet if it’s really windy when it rains but it’s nothing major.😊
