1 hatched late yesterday, and more overnight!!! I'll get pics later today as they were still under mumma Puff although I spotted 4 heads so far!

Yay for Pebbles! So happy she’s a she

You should definitely ask your neighbors hehe, the wooly ones are so cute too! She’s a funny girl, she’s got a lot of personality and talks a lot. Plus the gorgeous coloring

Im going to take an updated pic of Daisy tomorrow... she is a white D'uccle.. BUT after this last molt, she has this silvery color around her hackle feathers and shoulder area of her wings... very interesting!

Finally done w classes!!!! Woohooo!! So i rushed out for some pics before the sun went down!!

Let me present.. mystery chick.. aka PEBBLES!!!


Here is Wilma and Pebbles.. i love how one has a white crest and one dark.. adorable This is a better pic where you can see how Pebbles is (finally) getting a nice round girly crest.

They are all so so sweet. Some are easier to catch than others, but all of them let me pet and cuddle them, and fall asleep in my arms

No.. shes a girl.. i know her crest looks a little funky, but it seems like her skull is missing feathers on her right side. Hopefully those will come in at some point. She and Wilma are so similar face and size wise. Now Fred.. wow, hes all male. Gigantic feet, and just so so big, w very skinny spikey crest, oh, and the crowing

My Saturday hatch is all finished and I got some lovely new babies! 5 of the mille fleur babies ended up hatching. I'm really happy with that number being they are from shipped eggs. Four of the 5 have naked necks. One I'm a little worried about because of the naval (possible omphalitis) but the baby is energetic and doing well so far so I hope it's not that. I love how much variety there is in down color with these guys. I can't wait to see how their pattern develops as they grow and I'm looking forward to seeing what feather type they have. I think frizzle might be a possibility which would be a lot of fun.

I had some from some of my own flock incubating too that hatched as well. I didn't get a separate picture of them but here they are all in a big group along with the mille fleur babies. There are 3 blacks, 2 paints (that may be mottled as well as paint) and 1 either black split to mottled or possibly even fully mottled baby. Four of these (one black, two paint, and the split/mottled baby) have a naked neck silkie dad but he didn't pass it on to any of them.

Here is the little one that is at least split to mottled I'd say and perhaps even fully mottled. I love the little pink and black beak it has. It'll be fun watching to see if it turns all black or actually is mottled.

I'll have more from my flock hatching next Saturday too but this hatch was extra special because of the millie fleur babies! I'm hoping maybe I get lucky and get some mottled next hatch and perhaps that Nn dad might actually pass the naked neck to a couple babies this time.

I’m so jealous of everyone’s hatching babies! I need to hatch some babies and get my fix!

I let Miss Betty sit on some big chicken eggs that I thought were fertile…but turns out Puff has been shooting blanks or just isn’t finding his mark yet. So I may get a couple little chicks soon and plop them under her. She’s a very dedicated broody! And Miss Fuzzbert shared the load today it was adorable!! However! I think they’ve been stealing some eggs because her pile seems to get bigger! I go out and check quite often but maybe not often enough! Haha

I also finally secured my run extension with better fencing for tiny birds and bird netting…so the littles got to full on be chickens today finally! Sia and Cher just love to dust bathe! I rescued the other chicken you see in the picture—and she was very lonely being quarantined. She finished quarantine and was dusted again for mites, so I’m hoping she was ready to assimilate because she snuck out of her “free range” pen I made for her and ran into the run with the others. Haha, she was SO happy She’s a Swedish Hedemora from Greenfire Farm eggs that was owned by a Vietnamese family and they had just the one girl so I felt sad for her She fit in immediately with the group! They’re all just sweet and gentle chickens, I got super lucky! Elsafish (daughter named her) is just beautiful and active and while not enamored about human cuddles she doesn’t fight it either! If youre ever looking for another small breed to mix with your silkie flocks I recommend! Some gorgeous colors too

I've put off making this post, but it is time. Rest in Peace my sweet perfect Poppy. I lost her Tuesday morning in a tragic accident. She flew off the roost while I was opening the door to her coop and crashed into it. She was gone almost instantly. I miss her and her spunk terribly, and still feel guilt over it. Poor Branch was beside himself for a few days and kept looking and calling for her. Chiquita also missed her friend but adjusted quickly and sticks close to Branch now. This is the last picture I took of her Monday morning. I'm going to print it out and have it framed.
