I noticed one (yellowish with spot on head) has lighter beak /feet .. if I keep this one is it best not to use it for breeding because it may pass on this trait?

Oh they are all so adorable with momma Puff! 🥰

The skin might change or it could stay lighter. If this is a trait you want to avoid if it doesn't darken up I would avoid breeding. Usually by 6-8 weeks or so they should have darkened as much as they are going to (at least that seems to be how it works in my paint babies who tend to have their skin darken considerably in the first month or two).

I set after the eggs have come to room temp but usually don't turn for the first few days. I have an Rcom so I can't keep the eggs upright but I'm beginning to wonder if having them on their sides makes it worse. I'm down to 3 eggs and I've decided to turn by hand for the rest of the hatch. I noticed the air cells do some weird things when the incubator turns them vs me in the first week.
I usually hatch quail and don't have much problem with them.

Oh I hope the hand turning helps! :fl I hand turned my last group of shipped eggs too and it worked out pretty well. I only hatched shipped quail eggs once but they did great. If they were anything to go by I'd say they take shipping better/are more hardy than chicken eggs tend to be.

I am heartbroken. I picked up silkies who were shipped in a tiny box and the roo died. I cannot understand how people can do that...

Oh no I am so sorry that sounds terrible! 😢:hugs

I hope the surviving girls are doing alright and not too traumatized. :fl

Unfortunately the 2nd egg that was pipped passed in the shell. I also candled the 3rd egg this morning and did not like what I saw, I did a egg-topsy and sadly I was right. The chick must have passed around the time they went into lockdown. The surviving chick is very strong and was moved into the brooder this morning. She will have to be a singleton until Tuesday when Rural King gets in a shipment of chicks. I hope to find someone who will split a order with me as I only need 2 or 3 siblings for her, but if not she will get the minimum 6 siblings.
My mom and daughter have named her Ezzie.

Did you get some siblings for sweet little Ezzie? How is she doing?
