LUV her coloring!
Thanks she is a total cute she is always following the group of chicks that grew up together and she is always trying to join there group. She is best friend though to Rosie Mae the paint hen. Rosie sort of adopted her. At first she was really picked on but she is part of the flock now.

I'm hoping my lil Gabbie has this happen to her as well!
She's one of my 3 lil d'uccles and they tried for an hour last night to cuddle up with the bigger babies! They never let em...so I went out there and sat them on the roost inside the coop. The bigger babies sleep on their coop porch. It wasn't 15 mins til Gabbie jumped down and went out there with the biggs on the porch and determined she was sleeping with them!
She did all night finally but when they awoke they went right back to pecking her.
Then I had to go get Chatty & Cathy down from roosts cuz Gabbie would not hush til she found em!
Luv my babies!!!

Ahh poor baby they will probably accept her after awhile. I didn't think that they would ever stop picking on my baby but they finally did, I have a mixed flock off standard and bantam so she had even big girls picking on her. I also have 2 coops on a large run so her, Rosie, and the group of chicks all sleep in one and all the adults (except Rosie) sleep in the other. They do that all by themselves I don't lock them in at night so they just do that

Yeah I have a chicken cam in run so I kept watching and restraining myself from going down there...I did get onto Daisy and Bluey a couple times but they'd go right back to it...lil turds.

Yep they are definitely turds lol when introduced 2 new pretty large standard hens my most docile EE attacked them like actually fighting then I had to break it up and kept doing that until they stopped, now they get along fine. But with the baby just getting picked here and there I just realized that when I broke it up and protected her it just made the pecking go on for longer until they let her know who was the leader. I would let it go for a little bit until it looked like she was trapped in the corner just getting pecked at then I would stop them, now they're all good

Yeah restraint when getting picked on is very hard! But totally agree.

I didn't know there was a blue silver. This is her without the hen. She is my only brearded silkie shes just now getting the muffs and beard because she had really bad mites when i got her. Now after weeks of treatment every day she is much better.View attachment 3139446

Aww you have some lovely silkies!

I think this girl here is probably the silver based equivalent to partridge which in silkies is called gray (the variety is so pretty, I never liked the name much though as I think it creates confusion as people expect more of a solid gray with that name and not the lovely silver to darker gradient that they actually are). She does look like she might be blue based as well. 🥰

Your boy may have some similar genetics going on but is a much lighter/whiter version. He looks like he might be what you'd call Columbian gray and also looks like he could be blue or even splash based.

Yay! Since rehoming Barney, Elsa is back to her old self! No bossy behavior, just chillin w her peeps!

Here is a blurry pic i got before they attempted to make their escape. You can see Bambina (silkie) has added fluffiness and is running around the place happily. She isn't any bigger than the d'Uccles.. so cute 😍

No panting (yet) today. It's going to be hotter today, but i added another sheet to increase the shade area and soaked the run down. They seem to like pecking around afterwards. Its very breezy too, so that might be keeping the wet ground cooler.

Aww I'm so glad to hear things in the flock are going so well! 🥰

I'm sorry to hear you had to give up Barney but it sounds like he went to a great home and I'm sure your girls will be happier without a hormonal boy hassling them. It's amazing sometimes how flock dynamics change. A peaceful flock really is just the best!

You know, i hadn't even considered that Elsa's aggressive behavior was due to having roosters around. She is just great in the coop too, last one in at night and just hops up to her spot. No chasing everyone out. I really considered rehoming her due to the aggression, and was heartbroken because she is such a cuddler with me. So glad i waited it out!

Barney is sweet too, and you know that's a great thing w kids, so he will definitely be appreciated at his new home. I think a rooster has more of a need to free range than the hens as well.
