Partridge can have dark heads. By the Standard of Perfection the color isn't supposed to. But it's very striking and many people like the look.

The blue part can come in varying shades. I apparently have one in another pen that is blue partridge that I thought was regular partridge because she's so dark. I don't know who it is. I'd thought Id lost the color a couple years ago but did a lot of breeding last year and 3 popped up.

It's not currently raining so I ran out and got some new pictures. They weren't too happy on the chair with my chicken herder circling below them.

No...go here though
I just got hatching eggs from Bobbi Porto at Indigo Eggs and she is amazing!
I found out about her here on BYC and she's major helpful and wonderful to work with!
She's been in the business over 20 years and has won tons of shows with her babies!

I'm glad I looked here, I saved the web page and will hopefully be able to order some eggs. Thanks for posting it. : )

Oh yeah mine definitely looks like your blue partridge she's got a lot of blue coloring in her down feathers and upon her head. Here's her in the sunlight so she looks very orange and striking, but in lower light she looks similar to yours. Unfortunately her pouf has been pulled out a lot due to a roo trying to mate with her, normally she has more Grand head feathers. Thanks for grabbing pics! You're awesome! Just googling what a partridge looks like there's so many different varieties so I wasn't sure exactly how to classify her!

Thanks for sharing this!
I've been told if I can I should get a blue Partridge (for a colour breeding project), but I didn't actually know what blue Partridge looked like. Really helpful comparison!

It's just a partridge that has had the blue gene bred into it and is showing one copy. I've never had a male before so haven't had splash partridge. I'll probably have a few of those this year because Im super curious what they would look like and I have the opportunity now.
