This 4 month old is the most skittish I've ever had, absolutely bolts away like I'm about to murder her!... I caught her when I let them out this morning ... She is a girl isn't she? Sorry pics not very good, hard to take pic with one hand and hold chicken with other! Esp when they want to escape! ..a lot of my hatches this season have been clean faced/ non bearded 🤷

Kinda for me thinking boy….

In the past every sikie I had was a jerk. But this year husband loved 'the grey chicks' in the bantam bin. Their really cute I hope they become sweeties

I had a first. Chick pipped the wrong end, then tried to zip the length of the egg and got stuck. It'd had a huge pip hole for 4 or 5 hours and the fluff sticking out was dry so time to step in. Just stuck to the membrane around the big hole by a wing, not fully shrink wrapped. I was really confused when looking for the head until I realized how it was trying to zip.

Nice perfect little feet. I always look at toes. Had to press it's feet flat after peeling it out. I found that helps prevent toe problems if you emulate how they use their feet to push out.

This was the egg I didn't think would hatch.

How did you press its feet flat? I've done hatches before where I had to make corrective shoes but knowing how to flatten them once they are out of the egg would be great!

I just use my thumb to open up the toes and rock it a bit while putting gentle pressure to fully extend and hold it for a few moments. Good to help prevent helps prevent the curled foot that peeled eggs can sometimes have. I noticed a higher chance of foot issues in those chicks.

Ive had to use shoes many times before. I check all feet and legs the first day because toes and spraddle leg will normally fix within 24 hours at that point. I use the big clear bandaids on feet. Well the sticky ends. I just cut the ends off and splay the toes out on the bottom one, then put the top one over and stick it to the bottom one. Trim any extreme excess.

I keep chick hobbles for spaddle leg and just leave them in the bator with its good traction and sides to lean against.

Beautiful Satin Silkie baby, 12 weeks old. Cockerel, I think??? Is this Blue Partridge? This is my first and only Silkie. I’m in love. 😍
