Bator got switched off last week on Monday. Not sure for how long. Eggs were cold. Turned it back on and hoped. Today is day 21 and this hatched this morning.

The baby is freakin' aDORable, Duke's "plates" are really impressive, the third photo should be entered in the caption contest ... I'd call it "This End Up!" and the youngster in the fourth photo wants to know what in the world you're doing. What neat pictures!Just cuz there was interest—baby Brahma is now almost 2 weeks old and cuteDuchess is just such a good momma!

Also had to share my Satin boy Duke, now that he’s all filled out. His dad is a confetti Silkie and his mom is a gold laced satin

And my frizzle Satin hen Brillo (same parents!)

It may have been a rough hatch ... but they sure are pretty babeez!Worst hatch Ive ever had.
Ended up with 13 chicks. The cold affected the eggs pretty bad. 1 egg died after pipping. 6 look like they died around day 16. 3 chicks were spraddle legged. I hobbled within hours of hatching so it fixes fast. They will go out to mama tomorrow.
The lighter ones will be blue partridge or splash partridge.

At night. Also now we’re down to 2 buffs and Bee (the EE). I asked my dad If we could rehome the chickens or bring them inside until their coop is betterSo do they get attacked during the day or shortly before dark?
Do you have a garage or shed you could put them in at night? All you'd need is a dog kennel. They don't eat or drink at night, anyway, so they'd be fine overnight. In the meantime, if you post some pics of your set-up, we can probably make some safety recommendations. Many are simple, relatively inexpensive fixes and you may be able to do them yourself, which would help your Dad.At night. Also now we’re down to 2 buffs and Bee (the EE). We do have a shed type thing, but it’s my dads so I’d have to see if he lets us. The coop we lock them up in at night is a prefab coop, I’ll take pictures when I can.Do you have a garage or shed you could put them in at night? All you'd need is a dog kennel. The prefab coop kits sold at feed and big-box stores are NOT predator proof ... or even predator resistant. They are best used either indoors or in an enclosed run, like a dog kennel with electric around it or a top over it.We do have a shed type thing, but it’s my dads so I’d have to see if he lets us.
