I'd hobble immediately. It may fix it. I can't tell if it's actually twisted. May just be splayed
I haven’t seen the wee chick in person, they have popped it back in the bator for a few hrs to let it sleep and get a bit stronger, then if still not good in the morning I will bring her back here with a wee friend, so I can treat her.

Hopefully it is just a bit weak like some newborn foals and calves I have seen with leg issues. I had a filly born with some serious knee deviations, a week of stall rest and carrying her around so no weight on her legs worked miracles - and made her one spoiled princess! It’s one thing carrying them around as a few day old, but when they are a month old not so much when she tries to crawl into your lap😁 bad horse!

The quicker you get hobbles on, the faster the legs fix. I've hobbled chicks when just dry and was able to remove them the next day

Unfortunately the wee lass isn’t here, she is part of the hatching my niece is doing with her class.

If I had known about it earlier in the day I would have gone immediately and picked her up. Unfortunately I have taken meds for my restless leg syndrome which means no driving!

I have to ask, what the fuddle duddle is with all this texting crap?! What ever happened to picking up the darn phone and actually PHONING a person - I didn’t get the text till around 7:15. So I am not driving 45 min to town and then back home 45 min ‘under the influence’ of my meds. Sheesh! One would think that my teacher niece would know better with her old lady Auntie Kelly than to text her!

I have trouble understanding people on the phone so it helps me. Sometimes I just need a quick reply on something. I still talk with older relatives on the phone. Plus hubby and Mom. If it takes more than a couple sentences, a call is easier. Gen x here.

I like texting for things like ‘hey I’ve arrived’.

But any more than that and o have issues - for instance typing on here is very frustrating - I have to keep going back and correcting errors!

Have the wee chickie here this morning and placed hobbles on her. I also have positioned her using a towel so she is more upright and her legs in a more natural position.

I can honestly tell you I have a great fear that this wee chickie will not get better- she just doesn’t seem to be able to hold herself upright. Every couple hrs I have been doing some
Physio with her, gently extending her legs, working her toes which seem to want to curl, and holding her feet to the ground and helping her sit more upright.

I tried to get her to eat but she is not interested, her little friend is very interested in eating, I tried to get her to drink but again not interested. I did put a few drops of water on her beak.

I leave them in the bator with hobbles only because it has actual corners. Chicks like to back themselves into a corner for support sometimes if a bit weak.

I think you're doing what you can

I am more interested in getting her to drink and eat, she is coming up on 2 days old now.

after she eat and drinks put her back to the bator. take her out a few hours later and repeat. I found out that bator helps a lot with weak chicks.
That is what I am doing and she will not eat or drink. I don’t have a good feeling for her, I would feel better for her odds of she would eat and drink.

I have the two of them in my pocket here at work, they were just screaming in the incubator. That can’t be good for them getting all upset. I figure they like the snuggling in my fleece pocket like under a momma hen.
