Thoughts on a new boy... Which one looks more pure? Combs?- the one in the front looks more spiky shape?

The spikes are against standard now. But so is the feather color (takes a lot to get a color accepted). Comb can't tell if carries recessive, unfortunately. Recessive stays hidden fully.

Yesterday pics of chicks. I cant go out there at moment. Had surgery on the hand today and anesthesia made me weird. I walk into stuff on a good day

Eta had to fix as I clicked wrong pic so switched to right one

Ok thanks! I'll go with the one without spikes and hope for the best.
I love the orange patridge colouring so not really concerned if it's an acceptable colour, just don't want the red comb or single combs at this point.
I'm also going to breed him with Araucana hens when they grow up. Any ideas of colouring I'd get with the Araucana? Unfortunately won't have silkie feathering and lay blue eggs 😕
I wish!

Those have tails? Tails are rare on araucana because it's not part of breed standard.

What color you get depends on the colors being bred together. Guessing only works well with standard colors where what genes and how they act are mostly known.

This website will let you pick each parent's color from list. Takes playing with it to get a feel for it. Only click for 1 language and after you choose, click "to chicken calculator". There you can click "calculate crossing"

the barred hen will produce sex link: barred cockerels and probably red, but definitely unicolour pullets.
