I sold a beautiful blue based partridge silkie hen who was responsible for single comb chicks. it seems that only cockerels had single combs. is it maybe sex linked?
her new owner wants her for her beauty, not for breeding so everyone is happy.
Single comb is recessive but not sex linked.
That means someone else is also carrying it as well. You'd have to test breed against a single comb bird and see how the chicks turn out. Need several to see if it shows up to be certai.
It's a hassle. Most I think just don't breed single comb and quit using the parents because both are carriers
