I’m pretty sure the black showgirl and the frizzle are boys. The showgirl is showing some iridescent feathers and has longer tail feathers than the rest. He also is showing some serious aggression towards the others. He is the one I find jumping around the most and trying to get onto the others backs. He also kicks at the others the most. I also noticed that his comb is huge compared to most of the others. I think paint one’s comb compares in width and snuggle’s is comparable in height.

The little frizzle is a sweetie but I feel like if he wasn’t frizzled he would be showing streamers. He has some extra long feathers that stick up on the top of his head. His comb is also very pink.

Paint 1 is also a cockerel (male-specific feathering).

I thought he was but I was suspicious because of the size of his comb. Is it the brown coming in that’s the male specific feathering?

Yes. I can also see some pointed feathers coming in.

Pretty sure this is going to be the last week for pictures. I’m confident I can say who is who, except for Snuggle.

The boys: paint 1, frizzle grey, paint 2, black showgirl
None are crowing yet but definitely getting their big boy voices. They yell when we pick up the girls like a rooster would.

The girls: cuckoo satin and paint 3

Snuggle I still don’t know about. I might still post weekly updates of him until I’m sure if he’s actually a he. So far I don’t see many telling signs either way. Snuggle has a larger comb than the other girls, which makes me think boy, but not as large as the black showgirl. Snuggle also isn’t showing any streamers, which leans me towards girl. I can see them on the frizzle grey though. Any guesses on Snuggle are appreciated. The reasoning behind your guess would be nice too. So I can see what you see.

I would have guessed the same in regards to male and female based on appearance. Paint 3 and the little cuckoo definitely look like pullets to me.

I'm leaning more towards male with Snuggle but you never know (mostly based on the comb but the stance is a little cockerel like too). The bout with wry neck may delay Snuggles development a bit so if he is male the streamers might show up a little later than his male siblings.

I wouldn’t say paint 2 is a cockerel yet, despite the comb. I just don’t see the feathering I would expect at this age.

Since I’m going to be posting pictures of Snuggle for a couple more weeks I’ll post pictures of him too. In person his neck feathers look thin and his tail feathers seem to be cockerelish to me. But I’ll get better pictures next week to be sure.

Sounds like a crow to me too, I'm sorry you didn't get a few more girls.

I've had some pretty boy heavy hatches myself. Worst one was 7 out of 8 boys!
