silkies

Kelidei, there is no way to sex those chicks at that age. Please post pics of them around 8 -10 weeks old and some of here will be able to give you good guesses.

MuddyHorse, I think you have two hens, of course pics with dry crests would be better.

Amydurose, I am pretty sure you have a pullet and a rooster. The top pic of the bird with the smaller crest is a female and she is older than the other bird. The second one, I am almost sure is a male.

Not sure. Never had any other kind of roo. I have herd that silkies are one of the quietest. Sorry...

My Silkie Roo Bennie was quieter (less loud, not less often) then my LF Roo's - he also had a more 'mellow' voice - like singing instead of shouting.

You could always tell your neighbors that its a new ground parrot that leard to make a rooster call...

I don't know about yours FireTigeris, but mine seem to crow more in the middle of the night, in the morning and in the afternoon!!!

At least i can't hear them from in the house!!

If I have a boy (fingers crossed I dont

) I wont mind the noise BUT my neighbours might. My neighbours work all day so random daytime crowing wont be a problem. Its the early hours crowing that might get me in trouble, If you cant hear them from inside the house he will be a keeper.

I am worried where i would keep the extra chickens because obviously it would be rude not to hatch their babies
