I don’t think it’s definite but when mixing breeds with different combs, males tend to take their mothers comb and females their fathers. But sometimes combs can mix and just make a mixed comb, like your pullets’.

Okay, thanks. Like I said, it wasn’t a definite statement, it’s just something I read on here once after I bred a Silkie and Marans.

So this big beautiful bird was a BOY! he had a tiny goofy crow but sure enough, a rooster. He was eagerly adopted and is living the farm life now.

I will try to hatch out more jersey giant silkie crosses this summer.
