The mother of this bird is a big black Jersey Giant. The father is a modestly sized white silkie rooster. The first picture here is the chicken in question. 3months old.

I will also post pic of mother and father and a confirmed rooster of the same parents.
I have hatched four of these mixes so far and all have been roosters but have had different Combs. Some had a walnut come some had a raised comb I don't know what it's called.

I wish I had done the DNA testing like I planned. Dad the silkie has a giant Walnut comb which looks exactly like this little birds comb except for the size differential. The funny thing is that the bird in the picture below is from the same father and mother but completely different comb and it's a rooster!

I had no idea about the comb swap thing. That's something I definitely need to research. We have a couple different kinds of birds that like to mix it up and we are never sure what we are going to get for chicks.

So this big beautiful bird was a BOY! he had a tiny goofy crow but sure enough, a rooster. He was eagerly adopted and is living the farm life now.

I will try to hatch out more jersey giant silkie crosses this summer.
