silky silkies

I do in fact think silkies are freakin adorable

but my silkie ended up being a rooster and he is the bane of my existence! He bit me and now i have a scar on my hand, little booger. He jumps at my kids and tries to attack them. He has also been trying to mate with my white leghorn but he's very violent about it, which i hear is the norm but it makes me crazy! i'm trying to break him of his attitude but it is getting on my last nerve.

I have a silkie rooster... he is so funny because (no insult to silkie's) he is, well, dumb! lol! He is cute, though! And is a great father!

my family is only a family of two, so we don't go through a TON of eggs, so for us it actually works out really well to have chickens who don't lay all that well lol. They have very goofy personalities, I love how fluffy they are, they are a great conversation topic for people who don't own chickens. I like banties more than LF, less feed & smaller poops!

yeah. i take back the first post, as i have never seen splash silkies. i will now explode into emoticons

I didn't think I'd like Silkies 'til I tried them. A year ago last spring I hatched a clutch of Silkie-X-Ameraucana and I've been hooked ever since. Splash, you say? Here are some of mine... These are F2s with smooth feathers (my silkie-feathered ones are mostly lavenders):

Thank you!! I've been thinking about doing a cross to one of my Black Rosecomb Roosters to see what I'd get. Your chicken children are interesting! Fine-looking fuzzy feathers on the first one, and I love the color of the second. Makes me want to pick one up and snuggle.
