Silly chickens.

Yeah I know they are just doing their chicken thing enjoying being out of the coop for a while. Just funny to me that I give them better water than most humans drink and they are out there drinking from mud puddles. I love my silly girls. I've learned so much from them in the past year and a half rasing them from little baby chicks!
yeah I have a fresh purified well water but they prefer the muddy water

I started mine on well water before we moved and had a well. I was scared off from city water when they lady at the feed store asked us if we would be giving them well or city water. She told us if we gave city water it would be a good idea to let it sit in a bucket to air out and let them chemicals float to the top. Scary! So no thanks. Now that I don't have a well I fill jugs of fresh spring water home for us and the chickens to drink. If they want to drink from mud puddles that's their choice. :p

Lol yeah, sounds about right. I have my girls trained to come running when I pull out a bag of mealworms. I use them when I want to put them back in the coop well one day I let them out and I notice that I had let their waterer go empty. I filled it back up while the were out ranging and doing their chicken stuff. Two or three off them found a stray plastic lid turned over upside down that was holding some water and they were drinking from it. When I shook the mealworm bag they wouldn't budge from the water. I had to go over and dump the water and shake the bag again to get them to follow me back to the coop where t had to show them that they once again had plenty of fresh clean water.
Oh yeah as a and if I have anything in my hands they WANT it....if I don't have anything they look at me like "where's my treat?" ...and I rarely even give them treats right now as they are finishing up molting so it's been strait high protein feather feed for the for the past two months.
