Silly phobias that linger from childhood? Clowns are a given O_O

When I was a little kid I was TERRIFIED of...flowers! I was only 3 though, not like that anymore.

I'm very claustrophobic though and I cannot get on planes, elevators, and etc.

I am afraid of heights, and I'm mildly claustropobic. I recall being deathly afraid of burglary, robbery, murder, etc., when I was little; I would check the locks on the doors multiple times a night.

Lol! I have no idea why I used to be afraid of flowers. Maybe because orchids looked like they had little teeth?

I used to be scared of escalators, too. I thought they were going to catch my feet and grind me up or something. I only got over that phobia a few months ago.

Hmm, I can't think of any others at the moment.

Kooshie, I don't think you should get over that one.

A few years ago I was at the Bellevue Square Mall, in Bellevue Wa. I was going up the escalator behind a little girl, and her father. The girl didn't step off the escalator and the rubber toe of her tennis shoe got sucked into the teeth as the tread goes back under the floor. It happened so fast, I couldn't react. I went butt over teakettle over the girl and managed to not land on her. A couple other people did as well. Her dad amazingly grabbed her and pulled her out of her tied tennis shoe. By then about 1 1/2 inches were in the escalator/floor chewed up. Thankfully the girl was unhurt, not even scared. I have a real healthy respect for the safety signs on escalators now.

Oh Em, let me help you with this one. I can get you over your fear of turkeys. Come see my big blue slate. He lets you hug and kiss him, biggest, sweetest bird....

Mine is spiders but also if I go into a walk-in closet or down in the basement, as I leave, I still fear someone or someTHING will grab the back of my legs as I turn the light out to leave.

Odd how phobias go, isn't it? When I was tiny my mom used to hide me away when the gypsies would roll thru town...not because she thought they'd steal me, but because I'd run after them begging them to take me with them.

My great-grandmother was a Gypsy so that phobia was never an option for me.

Frogs and toads. For some reason I am terrified of frogs and toads. DH rolls his eyes at me every summer. We have a large spring fed pond and instead of getting water from the pond to water the garden (because there are frogs in it) I'll go into the house to get water. I also space my plants far apart so I can see any lurking toads so they don't jump out at me.

I will say having chickens keeps the frogs and toads on the lawn down.
