Go up and read post number 94. It explains how I was able to teach my birds to like it. I'm sure Hoot and Buffy will learn to love it. Especially in that AZ heat!! Please come back and let me know how it goes, and don't give up after your first try. ✿◠‿◠

This has got to be the sweetest thing I have seen in awhile! Dont you just love BO's personality? My BO hens like to perch on the edge of the duck pool but havent got in yet lol

Thanks for sharing the great photos and pretty chickens too! My son really enjoyed them but I warned him not to get any ideas, we have a small wade pool for our little girl and the other day we had the sprinkler on and all of our hens stayed far away!

These are the cutest pictures I've ever seen. Before this I thought the ones you took of your daughters and the birds were the cutest...

I have a shallow litter box that I put about 2 inches of water in. I refill it a couple times a day and keep it in the shade to keep the water cool. I bet your girls would love that, too. Since the can just step in and out on their own, you could just leave it out unsupervised. (Supposed to be 95 today with dew points in the 70s.)

I saw that some people were concerned about the chlorine the birds would ingest while preening. I know a little chlorine is not a problem and it is sometimes used to keep drinking water clear. But if you do this and lot and are concerned, you could fill a litter box up and set the girls in it to rinse off after they leave the pool.

Have fun with your lovely birds and keep cool!

I was just on this forum to ask if it's a problem if I "hose down" my batches of free-range broiler birds in this 105 heat. They're panting in the shade and miserable. I've showered them before with the hose and they run away from it. I wonder if it's a problem if their feathers get wet and stick to their undersides when they sit in muddy areas. thoughts?
