Silver Appleyards and Indian Runners; Some hens not laying eggs.

Is there anyone out there in the Carolinas raising Silver Appleyards or Indian Runners? We purchased our week old Appleyardducklings last May. The hens are laying now and we get an egg daily. Our Indian Runner Hens were purchased in April and more in May. We understood they were great layers but have been disappointed. Our Indian Runner Hen from April Hatch started laying in September one egg a day for a month and then she stopped. The Indian Runner Hens we purchased the following month have not layed eggs yet. They are getting egg laying pellets and flax seed with cracked corn. We have too many males Indian Runners and need to find them homes. Any ideas why the Indian Runner Hens are not laying?

The point is they both receive the same food, water and light, thus the quandry.

Just like humans their bodies all function at different rates. What conditions are okay for one bird will not always work for another.

Your picture shows an SA drake but no duck, so assuming you have ducks as well. if you have too many drakes in the runner flock and the ducks are being chased, harassed and over bred it can effect laying. if you keep the two flocks together the SA drake(s) will also try and breed the runners.
