Silver laced wyandotte pair - Pullet and cockerel?

Again when they infuse single combed birds in hatchery wyandotte stock (to increase fertility and why so many wyandottes are popping up with single combs) it increases comb size and makes them develop a comb earlier. I've seen it happen.
I believe that is a case of correlation versus causation. Often times hatchery birds will have less than standard traits, but it's not due to impureness for rose combs. "... RR and Rr genotypes cannot be distinguished except by a breeding test."- F. B. Hutt from Genetics of Fowl. This indicates that there should be no external differences of RR and Rr birds. :)

I have a pair of silver laced Wyandotte's, 8 weeks old. I have been thinking a pullet and a cockerel pretty much all along...am I correct in assuming this based on colour and combs? I know Wyandottes can have more colour to their combs earlier so I could me wrong but the assumed male has had a red comb for weeks and the other still pale. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance! 🙂

I agree with this, I just don't like the poor quality hatchery's have.
