Silver Laced Wyandottes - roos or hens? Please help!

Hi there everyone,

Help please! I'm a newbie chicken owner and hatched them in March, so they're 4 months old. I thought that they were hens, but the last few days, one of them has been doing what sounds like a proto crow! it sounds like ca caw CAAAW, with a stretched out neck and everything. It's mostly in the morning, but scattered in the afternoon too.

I'm confused and concerned! Any help or advice is very welcome! Here are some pics. They're 2 large fowl, and don't seem very different to me, chicken 2 has longer feathers around the tail, but neither has spurs developing, and both have fluffy butts.

They really do look like Roos but I'm just curious are you getting any eggs from them?

Those are both definitely roos. They are very pretty boys and have very nice lacing!

they are both cockerels you can see their saddles and pointed hackles very clearly there will never be an egg from them sorry

Thanks so much for all of your kind info, but I'm so upset! I hatched out 6 gorgeous little chicks and 5 of them have turned out to be roos! What happened to beginner's luck? In answer to you question, no one is laying yet, I have 4 chickens, 2 of which are definitely hens, but no eggs thus far.

What am I going to do with them now??? Anyone know anyone who wants SL Wyandotte roosters? (we live in NW london) I can't bear to dispatch them myself, and I certainly can't keep crowing roosters... Any advice welcome... (with the last lot, I managed to give 1 away and my sister bravely dispatched the other 2, but she says 'never again!')
