The bad news...
On sunday morning I got up, went outside, did my normal chick-chores, then came back inside.
Something didn't seem right: our house seemed too cold. sure 'nuf - thermostat said 53 degrees!! YIKES! Our natural gas boiler has been... shall we say... temperamental at BEST. With DBF not pulling in a salary right now, I was imagining all kinds of "live w/o heat" scenarios. Yuck. We borrowed a space heater from my parents and were able to get the main part of our little house to around 58.
So, we spent Sunday sans heat. On Sunday evening I decided to start cooking in order to at least be productive and warm up the kitchen. I made:
Quiche Lorraine from scratch
Polenta lasagna from scratch, including the meat sauce
Hot Pocket-inspired thingies with leftover meat sauce (now in your nearby frozen section!)
Baked potato soup, from baked potatoes
Banana bran muffins
The good news...
It turns out that the boiler stopped working because a valve had turned off the gas supply to it. DBF was able to fix it on Monday for no cost.
We've got all our meals for the week already cooked!
