Silverudd's (aka Isbars) are not autosexing or barred to produce sexlink chicksI have both Silverudd's Blues in Blue, Black and Splash and Marans in Blue, Black, Splash, and Wheaten looking to create sex-link olive eggers any help or suggestions to create.
Thank you, AlaskanBlue, black, and splash are never sexable. At least not that I have ever heard.
The barred and cuckoo coloration is naturally sexable. In Cuckoo and barred the males are light and females are dark. Also, if you put most any color male over cuckoo/barred females then with their chicks all females are black and males are cuckoo/barred.
The Brown Leghorn color is also a sexable color... clear 3 stripes is female.
None of the other colors I breed are sexable.
But you can play with this breeding calculator to see what will give you what you want.

yep. the joys of cuckooThank you, Alaskan
I used the calculator and I inputted a Blue Rooster and Cuckoo Barred Hen and showed males would get Barred gene 25% Blue Barred and 25% Black Barred, Hens 25% Blue and 25% Black. So I could use a Black or Blue Silverudd's over a Cuckoo Marans Hen to get a sex-link.
Yes.So I could use a Black or Blue Silverudd's over a Cuckoo Marans Hen to get a sex-link.
