I just bought a few more hens yesterday and I need a quick and simple nesting box idea. I was thing something with a bucket or milk crate. Nothing fancy, just something I can make with some extra material I find around the barn. Thanks!

I use cardboard boxes a lot, just fold or tape them up, cut out a hole, add straw and use, toss when dirty. Most milk crates will fit a 12" one, so could put box inside one of those.

You could take a bucket(clean bucket) cut the lid in half, put only one half of the lid on turn it on to it's side put bedding in it,and there is your nesting box.

I'm going to get me some 5 gallon buckets next time I get to a big store and do that. But think I will screw them into the wall a bit off the ground and see how the hens like them. Right now I'm using dishpans.
