Well the little duck egg with the bad bad air cell For some help from us but we couldn't find his bill so we left him for a bit with a hole in the inner membrane and went outside. I just cane in to check the status of his blood vessels but I noticed he wasn't moving so I jumped into action but it was too late. His bill was buried in his yolk sac and we didn't know it to know we needed to untuck his head.

I am so sorry.....it makes me so nervous when it gets to that point....and so sad. I had a chick that pipped internally, but on the wrong side. I saw the egg rocking and didn't intervene...I am certain that the rocking was because it was struggling because it was drowning. I didn't realize he had pipped internally till I opened the shell. It was last year.

Thank you both. I didn't really expect him to make it but it's still sad.

It really is the worst time. I can handle eggs quiting. I can handle chicks passing as day olds. But if I feel there was something I could have done during hatching... gosh, guilt.

Very much since I really could have saved him by getting his head out but I didn't want to do anything to son but since the other two internally pipped yesterday morning I should have known...
