Singing the egg song?

Ok so i have 12 hens and at least 2 are laying. I know one is my welsummer and i think the other is my australorp. My australorp was singing the egg song to me this am and kept walking into the nesting box but one of my brahmas was also singing to me and briefly checked out the box. Does this mean the brahma will lay soon too? Is the egg song a sign of laying soon?

It can be a sign that laying is coming soon. The alarm call (meaning danger) sounds an awful lot like the egg song, but with more intensity. Obviously, if it is the alarm call (which it doesn't sound like it is by the situation you described) it would not be an indicator of laying.

Look for them pacing back and forth to the nest box. That is a really good sign that they will lay soon.

Mine practiced for a little over a week before they actually started laying. I have 2 that are laying and just don't sing the egg song now! The other 2 proclaim loudly what they're doing lol. Still waiting on 6 to start laying and haven't heard anything from them yet. They don't act interested in the nesting box either (2 cochin that are 23wks, and 4 EE that are 18wk so not surprised the EE aren't yet).

I peaked in before i left for a doc appt and the brahma looked like she was laying an egg under the nesting box. Everyday I have 2 eggs in the box one from the welsummer and trying to fatch the other in the act. Not sure who is laying the small tan egg.

Came home and found these 2 eggs in the nesting box. Ive been having one of the small brown eggs daily but this light tan with white speckles is new. Im guessing it is from the brahma? My welsummer usually lays on brown speckled egg in the evening. Do these look like australorp and brahma eggs?
