Single chick

Despite best efforts for first time incubation we’ve had one chick from 18 eggs. I have hybrid girls who are not broody. What to do? I’ve bought a heat plate. Will he manage on his own?

He'll need some friends. Can you get a small number of chicks from somewhere and raise them in a brooder? They don't need a broody hen if you have a brooder, but he will need friends.

I’m trying to find some friends locally but it’s a bit tricky in lockdown! Nothing yet. Can I also ask, he had his umbilical cord trailing and it’s now Day 3 now assume it will naturally fall off?
