Single duck

Hello....I am wondering about keeping a single duck. There were two, but I had to put the other down because of leg problems. Now this duck is by itself and it is about two years old. My husband says no more, but I don't care for it to be by itself. There is a pond at a subdivision my sister lives in that has numerous ducks that my husband suggest we take her there so she won't be lonely. Since she has been pampered all her life, would this be cruel? I want to do what is best for her.

Please don't release it. It will starve to death more than likely. It could be okay by itself with you, or else try to find a duck person who may want it is another option.

Don't release your duck please, get another or give it to someone else with ducks.

Hello..Either find her a home with other Ducks or get two more Hens.. Releasing her will not be fair to her.

Don’t ever release domesticated ducks out in the wild. Sell the duck on Craigslist or give to to a local farm, just don’t release it to the wild.

Obviously you care for your duck which is why you posted your question in the first place but as other posters have stated being released would not have a good outcome.

Things that may be obvious to us, may not be the case for others. The OP clearly cares (and has for two years) for her ducks so I do not feel the chastisement is warranted. She would not have gone through the process of joining this forum and voicing her concern if she had no thoughts to the wellbeing of her remaining duck. It's easy to assume that because other ducks do fine in a certain environment, why wouldn't another one?

As mentioned ducks are social creatures and since you are not in the position to add one, your duck would do best being rehomed to someone who already has ducks and is equipped to care for her. Best of luck to you and your quacker
