Sounds like you trained him right! My DH is supportive of the chicken endeavors, but the projects are my own. I think, though, once he gets that first *real* egg he'll be hooked. He likes the chickens, just hasn't had a lot of experience and exposure to them. He's come a long way, though, and enjoying the country life. When I married him he was an "all yards should be concrete" kind of guy; Now he's wanting to learn how to prune the grapes and takes pride in his planting of the cider orchard. He even has a subscription to "Heirloom" and "Mother Earth News"

Yay! It's fabulous that you're back on your feet and engaging in the stuff you love (chicken-wise). Just curious, does the cold affect you more now? The only break (knock wood) I've had is a broken toe compliments of a horse many years ago. To this day two decades later it predicts cold weather changes (upcoming snow).
I'll mother hen you, too, and say "be careful" as NOBODY wants to see you recliner-bound for any length of time again. All good things in moderation until you're back up to speed.

I promise I am being super careful. My leg is still reminding me we aren't ready to get too stupid yet

The ripped lateral tendon and the hole where the horizontal screw was is still healing so if I am reacting to the cold or not is too soon to tell but I CAN tell when the big metal plate in my leg gets cold!

I had forgotten that they left some metal inside you. Can you actually feel the metal plate with your hand?

Enjoying a nice cup of coffee while catching up on BYC and watching football! Chicks went ouside today and found green. The white has started to melt quite a bit! got 13 eggs so far today. Life is good.

hi ocap!! I have 24 girls! The ones laying right now are from this years chickies! I got eggs from 1 BCM, 2 OE, 2 SLW, 1 GLW, 4 WLeghorns, 2 WR and 1 BO. I hope when I get out there to lock them up tonight, I have a couple more!

And I'm drinking Original Roast Maxwell House.
