We are in the northwoods of WI and this time of year it's not hard to tell who's got a "sugar shack" going. Just follow the wood smoke. Only the biggest outfits use gas burners to boil down the syrup. Even some of them use wood fires. Funny how there is not a maple tree to be found up here (except the one or two transplanted into people's yards of course) but go a few miles south and all you see are trees with either blue bags hanging on them or, the newest way, plastic tubing running from tree to tree a few feet off the ground.
So sorry about your friend's flock, Puddin'. I wonder if they will let her start over after this thing is over.
On an worse note. It was quietly announced the other day that this H5 strain of AI has mutated in China and crossed over to infecting humans.
