3 good eggs, love the pics!



I still don't have a final count but for sure there are 3!

I am a bit perplexed: I set 8 eggs and when I candled on day 18 ( and got the surprise pip egg) I thought I had 4 goods and 4 quitters. I shoved them all back under the girls because I was in shock. I went down tonight to pull the bad eggs and only came out with 2 eggs. SOOOO? Either my candling was off and there are more chicks under there than I thought or

they busted a couple of the quitters and are sitting in

. I pulled a couple large pieces of shell out but not the equivalent of 4-6 eggs.

Guess I will know when they get moving. Can't wait to see them up and out.

They are Silver Phoenix.

I can not wait to see what my chicks look like - and figure out what mixes hatched.

I placed pure Phoenix, Phoenix over Silver/gray Dorking, Phoenix over Salmon Favorelle and ---- drum roll-----Phoenix over black bantam cochin. ( That has got to be the black one)

I can't wait to check for feather feet, fluff, leg color etc.

I did scoop up one of the chipmonk colored ones and it has yellow legs, 4 toes. I didn't check for fluffy cheeks but I am guessing it is the Fav mix as they have yellow legs but there were no foot feathers.

Genetics boggle my mind so I don't know what the potential outcomes could be. I do think I read somewhere that black is dominate so that is why I am pretty sure the black one is part Cochin.

 

[Chicken Ladies]

Hes 25 and this is technically his first job.    Hes worked for the college in the astronomy department as a researcher....  and in the college book store...    then before that when he was going to community college he volunteered at the Birch Aquarium in the information booth.

Hes been stuck on making a living wage....  not on just getting a job. 

I kept telling him ...  JUst Get a job any job...  that fell on deaf ears.... LOL.

He started today at five pm.... he gets off at Nine... so sometime after that he should be getting home... Its only about three miles away. I hope hope hope he had a good experience. Hes been batteling Anxiety attacks. I am hoping that once he gets a few days under his belt he will settle in and calm down some. He is his own worst enemy.... sigh.
