Sitting with a cup of coffee. (coffee lovers)

Ah haven't been on in such a long time...
still battling the litter bugs who keep throwing all their trash in my truck bed and the walmart buggies.
How is everyone?

So the chicks are outside for the first full night. They are 5+ weeks old. I am feeling kinda like when one of the children had their first overnight at a friends house.
I keep checkin on em. not sure how late I can keep that up but I just want them to be safe.

I would love a lab rott mix! Maybe some year!

Grandma is full of stories and we all listen... I want to write them up eventually.. She was one of nine and the youngest.

Her momma started having babies at about fourteen or fifteen. There were two that were more than a year apart... So my guess is she would have had eleven.... Oh and Great Grandma married a widower that was about twelve years older than she was... He already had two children that were nine and ten. Story is she would play dolls with the girl.

I would love reading them! Hope Grandma feels better and a happy Upcoming 100th to her! (I know I'll forget on the 16th) :D

That's great!!!
I've got to start asking my DH about curtains and chandeliers and see where that gets me. lol
We use totes for nest boxes (but those aren't free usually, so they wouldn't match your curtains).

I prefer playing with my chickens (and children, and computer, and crocheting, and pretty much anything else) than cleaning up the yard too. So I usually get the kids to do the picking up.

Oh it really works! The dumbest question I can think of usually makes the one I really want the answer to sound very intelligent.

Cuz the real question was ater spending 6 hours in the sun trying to figure out how the roof pitch was (cuz I took that off before he looked at it

) And then picking through my diff lengths and scraps of 1x2 2x4 2x6 etc. Finally making everything line up and ready to go. How bout if we change the roof so the ladies are not going to be directly under the run off slope.

Sometimes I must remind him that logic and planning are not necessarily my strong suits I usually get mostly done and go

but he loves me anyway!

I saw a grasshopper in the back yard. I couldn't catch it. So I was trying to chase it to the chickens side of the yard. Einstein thought I was playing a game and was trying to help me, by running around me and trying to get me to play with his toy!
yesterday we were feeding special order *Hoppers ala Grass* to the new chicks

Amazing what bugs invade when the Ladies get locked up.

I'm pretty sure I would have gone crazy if I had taken classes all year around.

I tried that. Now you know why I am the way I am. ;)

I enjoyed school... But I remember that I had to be careful about how I planned my classes so that I didn't get overloaded and fall apart.

I twice tried to take classes in the summer.... The summer I took classes at a community college was FINE. However, the year I tried to take summer classes at the regular college I felt myself starting to unravel and so I dropped those classes very quickly.

I found I needed to have one really easy and fun class per semester, and not more than one class could be super difficult. I had to carefully balance my schedule.

As long as things were balanced, I was fine..... Until organic chemistry.

I think I tried that class three times, a fancy tutor once. The third time, it was CLEAR that I was just never going to figure this out.

I remember I walked into my advisors office and pounded my fist down on his desk. I told him that I WAS going to graduate with the degree that I had already chosen. I would NOT leave there until he figured out how it would work. He had to find some class that I was capable of passing that could be substituted for Organic Chemistry.

He just looked at me for a moment and then said sure, instead of Organic Chemistry, we would substitute in Artificial Insemination. I got an A in that class, and my degree.

AI - Theres a very very small village near here by that name. No joke. It's about the size of an intersection. Although it was named back in the 1800's. Lol! Glad you passed it!

Whoopee. Here we go again. So far they haven't seemed to pin this down to one hatchery like last year.
This keeps up and "big brother" will be trying to ban small flocks

I saw this too. This list includes 15 people in a nursing home in Bowling Green OH that were sickened from food contaminated with salmonella. They did not have backyard chickens. When I saw that Ohio was on the list I had to check it out of course because the nursing home incidents had been on the news recently.

Hi everyone!
Hope all my American chickie friends had a wonderful Independence Day!

He was a neat boy! I hope you enjoy the company of one like him one day. Fiercely loyal and protective! He loved us as much as we loved him.
