Sitting with a cup of coffee. (coffee lovers)

My sorority Big Sister is a veterinarian, equine surgeon specialist. We got to talking about vet practices. A fortune is to be made if one specializes in bovines (cows). But the problem with being a large animal vet is it is hard on the body and eventually the vets either retire or downsize to dogs and cats. Another friend (coffee klatsch lady) is such a down-sized vet and now she just pops into the clinic two days a week for low-cost spay-and-neuter days. Simple stuff and not very taxing or dangerous, unlike palpating a half-ton of kicking critter.

Chicken vets? The multi-animal practice I frequented was clueless. They basically referred to Merck's and figured the dosage was slightly above pigeon.

Is there an ag extension you can send your fecal stuff to? (provided they're expecting it.... nothing worse than getting a surprise package of poop!)

San Diego is fortunate that because of the Zoo and the Wild animal park there are quite a few people who raise exotics for the zoo. So there are a few vets that also take care of birds and reptiles... Then we have Cal Poly up the coast ... So doing a fecal probably wouldnt be an issue for any vet to send to a lab.

My feed store carries monkey chow to flamingo chow.... and bear chow... There is a bear and large cat sanctuary in east county.
