The cold appears to be over for a few days at least. My thermometer said 11.1 Tuesday morning breaking the old record by several degrees and it was 12 this morning for another record. Tomorrow morning should be the last below freezing for several days with the highs heading for 70 by the weekend. I love it!

My ice sheet is covered by new snow.

I think that is all I have had this winter, ice then snow, ice then snow.

But then, that is normal Christmas weather up here.....

The snow doesn't usually start stacking up until next week, or the first of Feb.

I don't think this area has ever hit -30.......... That is crazy cold.

Warmer??? It was -30 when I got up! . I refuse to head out to the coop until it gets to at least -20
Don't worry. I have a remote monitor in there so I know the girls are all snug and the nibble feeder was full last night. I also know the eggs won't freeze because they all lay in the same box, of course, and I have an older hen that can't lay (my last battery rescue survivor) and as soon as everybody's done she hops on and sits there till I come and get them. Good chickie.

Up to Almost -23 now so plenty of time for another cuppa

Gotta keep that old hen who is an egg warmer - she's worth her weight in gold. 23 + here this AM and supposed to get to 30 +.

Is this the spring thaw?
