This is my pic for the day. On my front porch Welcome Mat while having afternoon coffee and setting up "Chicken cams" on my phone.
oops!
so deceptively cute yet wholely EVIL.

oh, and be careful, when they come out during the day sometimes htat means that they are Rabid. DH shot a rabid one on the front yard (verified by the vet who sent the body off for us for testing) and found out that Rabies is an epidemic in the northeast amongst Racoons.

...sipping the afternoon mug. School was canceled due to ice this day. -daughter has been busy sewing......something. I'm not exactly sure what she's making, but she's enjoying her day and creating stuff.

-chickens finally came outdoors when it reached about 23 degrees. I envy all of you getting new babies!! -went to the feed store a few weeks back and they had tons of new chicks. -wanted to bring some home so badly - BUT, I cannot take on any more. My flock o' ten will have to do.

The same is true for Skunks.

Animals that do not follow their normal behavior are likely infected with Rabies.

Nocturnal animals out in the day is a bad thing.

Oh, I thought you were talking about what we call "tulip tree" here...the tulip poplar! LOLOL

We call the decorative one "deciduous magnolia." but you are right, it does look more lilke a tulip.
Sorry, calling Magnolia liliiflora "tulip tree" is a habit I picked up from my grandmother. I know there are a number of other names for it that include "magnolia" in the name, but we have sooooo many kinds of magnolias around here . . . .

Same with rabies and raccoons in Missouri.

I will only have "10" when I'm done too. ;) It works like being age 29! :D

That is what my spouse keeps saying, just can't understand how I count, and how so many chickens can add up to such a low number.

If you use really " short" little numbers it takes at least 2 to equal 1.;)

This little guy has been hanging out since last Wednesday. Here foraging crabapples dropped by the birds under the little crabapple tree. On Wednesday he pulled up a frozen Blue Jay from underneath the snow and spent 45 minutes eating it. All of it. Then UPS came and he went around the house. Then I didn't see him, until I had to leave for work an hour later. 3pm he was at the basement/back door. (We have a basement garage). Thursday he was back. Friend of mine was over having coffee about 1pm. Saw him under crabapple. She called her husband and he brought his 22 with him but agaun Cute Devil walked away. Friday back again but not for long. Iworked all day Saturday and we got about 4-5 inches of snow. Nothing on Sunday. Today...He's baacckk!. Tracks from the deck to porch to crabapple and back to to porch. That's when I saw him by the front door. Warming himself in the sun. At the front door. Snapped a few pics. He started to walk away and I tapped on the glass and he turned and looked at me like I was supposed to have something for him. Puppy type eyes. He walked back around on the deck. He is now sleeping in the cats outdoor house. Since they've been cooped up on our back porch the cats house complete with "Tempurpedic" cushion must of had a "For Rent" sign on it that I didn't know about. Last year a possum crawled in it while I was in Texas and died! Anyway we went and got the trap tonight and it will be set tomorrow. I feel bad sort of because I think it's literally starving to death. But thank gooddness the girls are cooped up and I don't feel bad enough to take a chance on it getting any hens! .
