Sitting with a cup of coffee. (coffee lovers)

I showed some restraint.

(Some)

I asked for, and paid for two dozen.

I have been playing with the incubator, I think I can squeeze in an extra 30, on top of the 48.

WAHAHAHAHAHA I STILL HAVE ROOM!

Right? 24 + 24 + 12 bantams.

Hummmmmmm

I should have bought more! :barnie

Alaskan, I don't know who, but I'm sure somebody's gonna have your hide when they find out about all these eggs!!!!

What? Where? Eggs? Did I say eggs?

This time I am more clever than last time! This time I will NOT have the incubator in the master bedroom. OH NO! I have one functioning brain cell, I can learn, sure I can! :D

The incubators and all of the chicks will be hiding in the children's toy room, behind some toys, well disguised.

I thought I did too, but couldn't remember who. I thought someone else might know. really hate "oldtimers".

TeaChick - we were all sending out prayers to those in the path of the nasty weather.

BTW- still snowing, hard. BUT, our power is still on! Went out this morning just in time. The ice load on the greenhouse had the roof bowing in so bad it was about to go. Got it off before too much damage was done. The weather switched to snow mid morning, the really wet, heavy stuff so I had to shovel some weight off the coop and breezeway roof (lost one cross support there but the rest held well). Now I have to get out of this chair and do one more shoveling before dark.
Later.

Oh, good. I hope I'm not one of them who needs those prayers.

But I hope everyone comes through the storms alright! =)

Isn't it better fun and games when they hatch?

nothing better than a summer long coop building marathon!

Totally with you on the non stop mania that is summer.... Not sure what I was thinking in regards to plants........

But I am panicked that i didn't start enough plants.....

I was TRYING to show restraint when I was seeding. I was TRYING to remember how my tomatoes and peppers are always so crowded in my greenhouse that it turns into a mold fest.......

But now I am thinking, NOT ENOUGH!
barnie.gif
and why did I only seed Anchos, and not Jalapeños or the really long thin red ones?

Note to self:

1. it might be very bad to show restraint

2. Buy another 50 eggs, I am sure they will fit

and the "really long thin red one" are chillies of some kind. ;)

Oh, my, alaskan!!! I can hardly type........

I don't feel one bit sorry for you when somebody catches up with you!!!
What are you going to do with 78 eggs, chicks, chickens?????????
I'm telling you, you've got to send some to me. Sour did his broody dance in my general direction, so I'll have broody hens to take on something like a dozen of those eggs.
I can't make any promises on putting them in the bator; I haven't had any success with that method yet, but I have a Cochin (bantam) and I think one of my sex-links will go broody.

Please send the extras to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then you won't get into (as much) trouble, right?????

Actually, the chicks go into the unused bathtub..... Only eggs will be in the toy room.

WAIT! I mean, no eggies here, nope!

bathtub?
You live with some very tolerant ppl!!!

Nope, Teachick, you have the wrong attitude.

1. NEVER add up the number of chicks. You need to be able to TRUTHFULLY say, "I have no idea how many chickens I have, but it can't be very many"

2. If the spouse ever actually SEES the chicks, you need to have ways to get around that too.... Your choices are:
- split them up into separate groups, so you never see them all together
- explain how any minute now, there will be fewer than you can currently see (an eagle will kill some, I am planning on selling a few, we will eat all of the males, and most of those are males, and aren't they tasty when they are bar-b-qued??? )
- evasive answers, "but I have ONLY five leghorns, and those others....well you know how the boys are, they talked me into it" also, I am already planning for " I know that that LOOKS like a lot of eggs, but often the hatch rate from shipped eggs is only 1%!!!! "

And what in the world do you do with your bathtub?

My parents use their bathtub as paper storage, I use my bathtub for chick storage.... Perfectly normal!

Edited to add: I think my in-laws store clothes in their bathtub.

Oh, Alaskan........1%????? Already planning on how you're going to try to get out of trouble.........you're something else!!!
1%? You're getting 5 dozen eggs pretending that only half an egg is going to hatch: "Well, you see dear, the hatch rate for shipped eggs is only 1%. And 1% of 60 is only .6, which means that only one of the bantam eggs will hatch, and we don't know which one that is, and we need to set all those LF eggs so that the hatch rate is all of .6 so that that one bantam egg actually hatches...."
Oh, my! That's all I can say.

Oh, and:
