Sitting with a cup of coffee. (coffee lovers)

59 degrees this morning - high of 81 expected. It is mid July here in NJ, right?

Good morning all. The coffee is good. It is rainy looking outside and rain is predicted again today.
I think we have had rain everyday this summer. Sometimes a downpour, sometimes just a drizzle, but it has been wet. The droughts were so bad, I will not complain.
Georgia just about blew away 15 years ago didn't it?

Yes it did. The water levels in the lakes just recently got back to the normal levels.

Does anyone have strange things their chickens do? I just had to spend a half hour getting my kids in the coop. Wind gusts up here are getting 70 miles an hour with a massive dust storm warning and guess what my kids are doing???? They are playing in their yard. If its hot outside they go in the coop if its stormy they stay outside. Now I need coffee to warm up. Its wet out there.

Sounds like a lot of work rounding up the flock.. We had both gust & haboob..it is freaky looking & seeing the wall of dust come into town.. I think I would rather have a cup of chamomile tea after that adventure.. Crazy chickens.

Tea sounds so much better. And I just picked up some clover honey with the comb in it. Great time to break it open.

FINALLY a chance to sit with a glass of wine by the pond. Mom is on a plane heading east, daughter is working, hubby is doing the clash of clans thing, the chickens are milling around finishing the leftover watermelon and the dog is chewing his bone. The cat.... well, he's off being a cat. Tonight is a beautiful cool, quiet night. I'm going to enjoy it because there's lots to do over the next few days.

Alaskan- what a beautiful garden! We went to Alaska a few years ago and the flowers that you can grow in the summer just amazed me. I don't know why I figured it would just be bears and moose and snow :) Once my little one moves out, we're going to have three spare rooms in the house. Hubby took over one for his work out stuff, one is a guest room, and I think this one will be one my sewing room/second guest room. I was dumb and promised no chickens in the house..... this year :p and yes, the chickens got the weeds. They helped by scratching through them while I was weeding and then did a second check in the compost pile just incase they missed something the first time.

KBarnes- coffee with the chickens is a great way to start the day. I only get to do this for another 4 weeks and then it's back to work :( You said in another post you're from out my way. Ogden? Or one of the other towns? We're in Ogden Valley so small acreage and lots of mountains.

PuddinFluff- all I can say is LOL about your 16 year old! When my oldest was about 10, the hubby and I agreed not to get a tractor or backhoe until the youngest was grown and gone. With some of the things my three kids pulled they would've ended up buried in the back yard next to the dogs! :he

Cheers! I am working on a glass of wine as well. I spent the afternoon shopping with my mother and daughter. My daughter's birthday is coming up so Grandma is doing some spoiling. When I got home, I tried out my new camera and took a few chick and llama pics.

Tonight I took my 3 month old chicks baby roost away and they are having to find new roosting spots. I went down to see how it was going and the only one on the roost with the big girls was the silkie. Go figure! I moved the rest over and after a little sqwaking and dancing they settled in except the banty cochin who decided he is hiding under a platform and that is that. Oh well, since he thinks he is the top cockrel, I figure he will work his way around to the roost eventually.

As far as the teens go, some days they are very good to each other and then other times I want to bury them both in the back yard!
