We had bantam Cochins mysteriously vanishing in the night; turned out to be an owl. A covered run was our solution.

yup, all my runs are covered. I let them out to free range only when I'm at home, and only for a few hrs. So far, no losses to predators. I have a lot of $ invested. I can't afford to lose any.

another chicken had its head bitten off.  the owl actually opened the propped pop door and got a rode island red

I wonder if there's a way to trap or bait/poison an owl w/o harming your chickens???? Hmmmm

Why did you have to go and show me that...yummy...goes to cupboard for coffee/chocolate sprinkles white chocolate/milk/and dark sprinkles...refrigerator for whip cream and milk...no no no...okay I resisted. now I am tired..I will go lay down awhile and dream of this cup of heaven. I struggle between being on a diet, trying to figure out what to eat/avoid to get healthier, and giving up on all of it and accepting that my lifestyle dictates that I'm going to weigh X. KWIM?
