Sitting with a cup of coffee. (coffee lovers)

:barnie and :hit

My coffee making minion left for school and didn't make me coffee!!!!!

WHAT SHOULD I DO!!!!

would more chickens help?

More chickens would always help! :D

I was just looking at Marans eggs on ebay. Bad me, very very bad me! But, some of them are so dark, so much darker than the ones I have........

I told child #2 to stand in front of me and repeat three times "no egg buying until January", but he first said "no egg buying until December" and then he said "no egg buying until next week"!!!!

Sheesh, I guess my minions aren't as well trained as I thought. :p

They know that the time you spend tending to the 'bator is away from time thinking up assignments for them.

The Marans eggs on ebay do not often represent the actual color of the eggs you will get.

The pictures are pirated too often too.

One thing to remember, the color on the Marans scale is determined at the beginning of the laying cycle when the eggs are darkest. Penedesencas hold their color longer through the laying cycle.

I was wondering too, since the brown on a penedesenca egg (same as Welsummer, right?) is done differently than a Marans brown...if you breed the two together, do you get an even darker egg?

The darkness of brown color is determined by a combination of between 9 and 11 genes. See how dark the Pene eggs are?

We had a teenage friend who brought us some, in the round, for a reasonable price. I need to see if he will do it again.

I am just a bit of a wuss, when it comes to the thought of voles and dismemberment. So, I still have not allowed them to use the chainsaw..... Which means they just can't fell and process trees quickly enough. They do a great job with splitting and stacking though.

Me too.
DH does all the chain sawing.

I'm sorry ...lol...I know coffee not highly processed ---I meant the creamer I used ! Just clearing that up...thx!

It was a wonderful conversation, that ended with a big boom!!!

No harm done.

My first experience with coffee was when my grandpa used to put a few spoons of his in my milk (he takes his black, so it just colored the milk and didn't really taste that good). The first time I actually had coffee of my own was at Starbuck's w/ DH, otherwise, I just didn't drink it.

My favorite thing to do in the whole world is to sit on the porch with my husband and drink coffee and watch the wildlife ( we live in the woods). It just such a relaxing thing to do.. forget about the world problems for just a bit!

Kind of wish DH got up early enough for that. lol

Hmmmm.....

"When in trouble, when in doubt,
Run in circles, scream and shout"

No, wait - how can you run, you haven't been 'fueled up' yet?

Extreme circumstances call for extreme measures; you might have to endure your own brewings if you are to survive (even if it tastes like

)

Yeah, that!

@kbarnes

My minions are pretty well trained.

They are expected to do all chores plus one hour of hard labor a day. After that, if I want more work, they will work, but if I want them to work happily then I must bribe them. Usually food works, or internet, or a promise of no work for the rest of the day.

They actually prefer to do their work with no parental involvement.

I'm working on getting mine trained to this level. The problem I'm having is there are so many of them that I need them to come to me and say, "I just finished [insert whatever I told them to do here], Mom." (preferably with a smile on their face, but the smile is not a requirement). Anyway, how do you get over this hump in the training process???
