I read that the duckies need to be able to get their head wet so they can keep dust out of their nares. I am trying to come up with something they can dunk thier heads in without the chickies getting trapped.
Haven't been able to quote the last two days. Be glad when BYC works all the glitches out and when our computer is repaired and I can use it at home again.
Yes, I understand they need to get their heads wet. It is my understanding that without being with the mother they don't produce oil for a while so they can't get wet as babies. I have had no problem waiting until they are feathered out and ready to go outside to provide a pool. I have not had any chicks get into the Duck pond. The chicks will stand around outside of the duck pond, even drink from it. I have not seen one chicken in the duck pond in over a year with 2 batches of chicks and ducklings together. I had the same worries at first.
