Sitting with a cup of coffee. (coffee lovers)

Okay.... story time.... vBG

Here in Southern California there is a lake called the Salt N Sea. Incredibly salty you cant sink in the water.... Somehow it got populated with Tilapia. Who are incredibly adaptable. I had a coworker who fished that lake. She and her husband had an air boat. So they could fish places that were very shallow.

The fish are so hungry in that lake she said all they had to do is provide shade, the boat, and drop a hook in the water. They would always come home with fifty or sixty of the little buggers. About the size of your hand. They would gut and descale and rinse them. leaving the heads on.

Then they would pop them in their homemade smoker.... An old refrigerator conversion... Right on the wire racks. OH MY GAWD good. I think they salted them a bit too. Or maybe they were already pre-salted....

FWIW there is hot smoking and cold smoking.... Cold smoking is very good for fish.

Thank you.
Yes, funny, pre-salted. =)

A rainy day to sit and do nothing but catch up on indoor stuff... Wow! You all have been chatty this week. It took a whole pot of coffee to read all of the posts. I love days like this!

I like rainy days too. When I was in high school, it was nice b/c the school was several different buildings connected by covered walkways (they never provided enough cover though). No one else was out b/c no one wanted to get wet, but I didn't care (I was usually wearing a jacket)....so I had the whole of the outdoors of the campus to myself, just me and the rain. *sigh Those were the days.

Achhhhhh! Help! Chicken newbie here - my broody hatched that one borrowed egg and day two some other chicken attacked it and pulled out some feathers and cut the skin! I grabbed it and mom and did some first aid with horse antibiotic and she looks much better today (day three). So I still lock them all in the coop at night together and then every morning I move mom and baby to the chicken tractor but what if it rains? And how long do I keep them separate from the mean girls?

:barnie:hit

How sad! :hit

Unfortunately, they may need to be separated for awhile.

For rain in the tractor, can you grab a tarp or something similar? Shower curtain, plywood, rubbermaid container or lid.....

Yum. I like smoked meat and I like salmon. Never had smoked salmon. Have to see if I can get some (IDK if they sell it here in LA, lower Alabama).

Oh, don't worry about those! I bet it's an indigo. Super dark blue? We have those around here. They're harmless, run away and non-venomous.

Indigo snakes are also king snakes. They are quite endangered.
