Sitting with a cup of coffee. (coffee lovers)

Quote: One of my Silkie roos "truffle" could hop and flap enough to get on top of the saw horse i had in thier coop. Then the smarty pants would flap and Doooo dlle Dooooo. The other roo didnt have enough wing tip feathers to compete. Truffle was a hoot.... He would walk about mumbling to himself..... sneak up on a hen all mumbly .... doo the deeed and mumble off....

He was a little guy too. Had NO problems charging through the water dish and attacking the Biggest Wellie Roo in the next coop..... "Lemme atem ..... i tell ya Lemme at him...." It was wehn the Wellie decided enough of this pip squeek and pinned him up against the chainlink.... When I separated them the Silkey had some Wellie feathers clenched in his beak...... "Lemme go I had him where I wanted him..... Lemme goooo..."

I finally had to hang him by his feet till he hung his wings like.... "I give up.... the wallet is in um... ooh You find it..." When Layed him in his own coop because he decided he couldnt walk.... When I layed him in his own coop he took a moment hopped up shook out his fluff and walked off mumbling....."

gawd I love roosters.....

My silkies did fine last winter in the Kansas City cold, all survived and no frost bite. One of mine is brooding her third clutch this summer. Her last clutch she hatched four of seven brahma large fowl eggs.

Just finished my afternoon cup of Folgers

:thumbsup Even though I read all the stuff I'll probably still worry some just because I am a worrier. It's in my genes. My family says I got from my grandmother. :D

aaaaw, thank you :hugs  Tell me, are little Silkies very cold hardy?  I love them and think it would be cute to have a couple little "bug eaters" running around.  Just we are true Polar Vortex country with very long winters.

Silkies are not cold hardy. They are not rain hardy. They can jump but not fly and they often cannot see well so in the rain they need to be picked up and moved to safety. They are also prone to brain injuries if they have a vaulted skull.

If you want working chickens do not get them. If I had them, I would make a Barbie coop and put it right out the back door. They would be there on the cement slab most of the time; ready for me to go out and cuddle with them....

Get Cochins if you want broody hens.

:gig Yeah ya do! The 4 I had even though they were only abot 16 weeks when I rehomed them they were not afraid of the big girls I already had. Knocked em down a peg or two. Lol

I used to drink Dew and Dr Pepper a ways back but carbonated drinks decided they weren't going to agree with meso now I hardly ever have any. When I do I get hiccups hard for a long time.

Sorry you are hobbling around. Hopefully it is a short time.

Ouch! I too, did not realize she took such a bad spill. Hopefully she is on the mend.

Here is a pic of my Grand Champion Large Fowl (Dorking pullet) and Reserve Grand Large Fowl (Sumatra Cockerel), and a friend.

He doesn't stand still very much. Unfortunately, we are going to have to get rid of him. Too many boys in a mixed flock. Anyone near Arkansas in the market for a pretty bird?

Yesterday we went to The Castle at Muskogee which has a Halloween festival every weekend in October. The kids had a blast. We are ready for more haunted houses now.

Congratulations!

They look very nice.

Mah silkies make meh happeh!

But really, they have good crests(at least the white and the grey) but not very good beards. Chimney, Sooty, and Dandy are their names. :D
