Sitting with a cup of coffee. (coffee lovers)

On a lighter Note.
Finishing up on my treadle feeder project.
I actually enjoyed building this, usually I like the "having done part" better than the "doing part" but I pretty much enjoyed this all the way through.
Looking forward to the final finish work,
Coffee will be consumed I'm sure.

Your feeder looks very nice!

Today I processed two Roosters. I have one more but am waiting until next weekend when I can process two more.

I am pleased with the results of my brahma carcass, large thighs, my favorite part.

now back to the coffee

:thumbsup I too like the thighs and legs. Each part has their own best qualities for cooking. I think over all the thighs have the most flavor.

I went and bought more paint. So I have paont, good weather and good coffee. I also have box elder bugs all over the south side of the house. Now I need to get the wet/dry vac. I hate boxelder bugs as much as asian "lady" beetles.
Everyone have a great day!!!! :D

Anybody know what to do with random feathers? My rooster's molting and I've been picking his feathers up because they're just too pretty. I wanna do something with them but hmm..I don't know lol.

Lost my baby chick today - she drowned in the heated waterer even though she had her own chick waterer in the run - so sad:hit

I lost a couple that way.... sigh... I started putting chicken wire hat on the big bird waterers.... Its kind of an upside down cap that fits inside the water bowl and about a quarter inch below the surface of the water. Big birds can drink... Little uns when they fall in can get out.

earrings
neclaces
hat bands
dream catchers
wrap them with flower making accessories into a bundle tape them to a wire and use them as a flower

Bundle them in baggies and sell them:
to crafts stores
on ebay
here on Byc. Fly tiers like the small ones

If you process the bird for freezer camp and decide to skin rather than pluck There is a market for the whole hide... Preserved of course. just requires salting the pelt to dry it out. Or if you want to get more money for it you tan the pelt with some simple chemicals... A full on rooster pelt can get you 20 bucks or more... Depending on the color and quality of the feathers.

I am considering doing that when i start back with poultry. I used to do Loom beadwork... and was considering doing somehting that included feathers but need to get home to do it .... Art is a messy business not welcome here in this house I am sad to say.
