Sitting with a cup of coffee. (coffee lovers)

It was sitting at the bathroom sink where I put it down on my way to the loo.

I would like to like mushrooms, but I don't. It's a shame, we would have loads of them in the forest.

The weinies are a bit icky. Although from an ecological point of view, it's good that a use for waste products is found. When people speak ill of highly processed food, they forget that. Ecologic and organic don't always go hand in hand.
Long ago before corporations and chemical plants got their hands on our food, somehow, it was not a problem then. We did not have to dispose of it by feeding it to our children.
They call that stuff offal because it is awful.

Yeah, it can be nasty stuff, I'm just saying that from the nature's point of view, it's better to eat everything we grow. The Asians are much better at that though, and they manage to do it without a lot of additives.

Organic, ecologic - should go hand in hand, but you're right they don't always.

Ecologic from dictionary.com :

ecology
[ih-kol-uh-jee] Spell Syllables
Examples Word Origin
noun
1.
the branch of biology dealing with the relations and interactions between organisms and their environment, including other organisms.
2.
Also called human ecology. the branch of sociology concerned with the spacing and interdependence of people and institutions.

organic from merriam-webster.com :

1or·gan·ic adjective \ȯr-ˈga-nik\
of food : grown or made without the use of artificial chemicals
: not using artificial chemicals
: of, relating to, or obtained from living things

My use of the word was a bit faulty. By ecologic, I actually meant ecologically friendly/beneficial, in Finnish and Swedish the word is often used as an adjective.

But a good example is crop growing. I remember reading some studies that say that an organic field of grain produces more greenhouse emissions than one grown with the help of modern fertilizer and pesticides. Of course, the use of those does have it's effect as well.

Personally I try to stick to locally grown and non-GMO stuff, I don't go for organic as much. Although, when it comes to animal products, the organic stuff usually means that the animals have been treated more humanely, so with those, I try to buy organic whenever it's possible. I'd like a "happy animal" standard though, I don't really care if the feed the animal has been fed was certified organic. It's the treatment of them I'm more concerned with. Chickens are a good example, organic egg layers have a 6 birds per square meter restriction, while barn raised birds have a 9 birds per square meter restriction. It's quite a difference.

I think about the only thing I don't like to eat is peas! Everything else I like. I grew up eating what ever we killed and my parents who grew up during WW2 didn't waste anything. My dad and I had a favorite bed time snack .... Pickled pigs feet with a glass of butter milk.

I love cherries! Door County cherries are the best! Folks migrate from all over to Door County in late summer.
Ok, we love the big dark cherries from Washington too

And mushrooms? just about everybody goes mushroom hunting up here. Can't do a proper deer camp venison stew without them.

Somebody asked for a weather report;
20o F and dropping, fast. 20+ mph winds and gusting. Still snowing heavy. No clue how much since it started yesterday morning, but ALOT. Hard to measure since the drifts keep moving. Should stop by dark then the cold air moves in. Highs are supposed to be in the single digits (F) by Thursday, not going to discuss the lows.
Reminds me, I better have Pa check the level in the propane tank.
