Speaking of health insurance, anyone read about that Canadian woman who went into premature labor on Hawaii? She had had an urinary tract infection a month prior to the pregnancy, so the insurance company is refusing to pay for her 6 week stay in the hospital... 900k to pay.

Yes I saw that but didnt know it was a Canadian woman.... Pre existing condition.... What a bunch of ..... DOO DOO.

Deb- That's why I drug myself up the steps and into the house and then crawled down the front steps and hopped into the car instead of calling the rescue squad. Unlike you, I was at least able to have my hubby there to drive me. You really made me think. I need to check into if we can say no to a lifeflight. Just like you, we are so rural that the lifeflight is used maybe even more than it needs to be.

You can if you are coherent. I could have called the local taxi and it would have been Cheaper.... The insurance paid 80 percent of that bill and I still was saddled with 4000 dollars. I cleaned out my savings and paid half of that 4000 .... Now I am payig fifty bucks a month with 21 percent interest on it.

Yep a Taxi ride to the hospital might have cost me 300 or so....

We have a storm front coming in so the temps have risen. It is 50F now. The high is forecast to be 57.

IN Southern California They are run by a company called Mercy Air service. They are really an ambulence with paramedics.... and For my fat hard head.... not worth it.... But for someone with a heart attack or heavy blood loss.... they are worth every penny.

My neighbor called them. If it had been just me... I would have gotten up wondered where my horse went.... then SAt for a while. I have been thrown from horses over a hundred times and know the drill. Dont get up till you take stock..... Am I bleeding... Um no... Do any of my bones hurt.... Um no... am i Dizzy.... Um No.... So now I can get up an take stock again.... Good to go. NOW FIND THE FREAKING horse.... LOL.

But no My horse trampled me and my neighbor freaked out. He thought I had been stepped on all over..... But even though she did pull a 400 pound hickory road cart over the top of me.... She never stepped on me and no wheel touched me... But she did take a half hitched vehicle OVER two brush piles before it came off and then she ran off down the road into the desert.

when I reared up Tom was coming back from his house and he said Dont worry I called the paramedics..... And the following is what got me a lifeflight.

I said.... What happened
He said.... I called the paramedics
I said.... But what happened
He said.... they will be here soon
I said.... Tell me what happend
He said.... I hear them I hate uniforms so I am going home
I said.... WHAT happened to my horse
He was long gone. But he never answered my question.... He thought I was delirious from head trauma....

It was 105 degrees and he left me sitting there on a BLACK rubber stall matt. No way in heck was I going to sit there. So I got up and sat on the hay... a teeny bit dizzy.... Again too hot... so I moved to the fender on the horse trailer... No good. So I moved again another 300 feet to the house front porch.... AHHH shade and cool surface to sit on.

Oh I had a scrape on the head.... but no foot prints no tire treds. All I needed was a drink of water and a comfy place to sit for a while. So the fire department gets there checks me over and calls life flight.... The crazy lady from the next property down Came skidding to a stop in her truck outside my gate.... "I have your horse"..... Then she proceeds to chew me out for not using her round pen. I told her that we had already been on a long drive and were done for the day.... No way in heck would I use her round pen....

Then she realized they were getting ready to strap me to a board and she left in a cloud of dust. At least she didnt pull a gun on the paramedics....

So my question finally answered.... Horse is safe and down the road Probably being gorged with Alfalfa.... My recollections of the accident were coming back.... I REALLY didnt want a helicopter ride.... That was traumatic in of itself.... once at the hospital they had good news bad news for me.... The doc said good news is its a very mild concussion.... bad news is we couldnt find a brain.... What a smart.... um alek.

I know there is a release form. I would rather Not have had them called at all. But Tom was certain I had other injuries so he called. If he had just flippin stayed with me and answered my questions I would have been fine.

Actually thinking of building a fire in the fireplace and when I think like that it has to be cold!

Well, the up side is that I have a great excuse to hatch again!!! I set one egg from each hen this afternoon. I expect something to hatch out on Dec 11.

I'm pretty sure everyone's been laying for at least two weeks. I have two OEs that just started laying within the last month.
