Sitting with a cup of coffee. (coffee lovers)

Thanks @Areolyn . These aren't supposed to be bantams, but I'll check them out. =)
I think its just common with the orange/reddish colored chickens sometimes. Their feathers at first look like they're gonna be peppered or white or something, and then in full feather they're a different color.

our church is having the monthly food, clothing and haircut give away on Saturday at 7:00 am, temperature is forecast to be 12F, I will look like doughboy handing out the carrots in the parking lot.

Ocap, I know I have chickens that eat everything in sight and hopefully they will leave the new chicks alone if they make it. It was 19 degrees in the coop this morning when I went out to let the chickens out. It was 2 degrees outside and that didn't stop them from venturing out. They have been in and out all day. One of my red sex links was in with mama this morning and she doesn't leave the nest. Hoping she will hold her own.
Alaskan, how cold is it where you are? Temps are going to be low here for the next week. Little bit of snow, enough to cover the ground but more in near future predicted. I hope they're wrong. Stay warm!

My crazy broody (in her defense she is a first time and I did not know what she would do) decided at 4 weeks she was mostly done with her chicks. She makes sure they get out of the box in the am and back in at night, that's about it. I found them at 36 deg freezing in the corner of the coop the other day. Not sure how they survived the cold at that age. I was not able to get them in until my DH came home. So now I don't let them out until later in the day when it gets warmer. It is still not warm enough in my opinion, but depending on the temp they get some outside time. When we got much colder I kept them locked in. Don't think they liked it much. They must be tougher than I thought.
