Everyone got their taxes ready?
They are at the CPA's office. They requested a couple extra things, but we are on the way.

Wow Alaskan!!! So very sorry. Plz do not go into cardiac arrest. We would miss you terribly! If it would help, just think that you could live in my state. We literally tax everything!!! Plus every county and every town piles on their own taxes (and they all have their own rates too of course) on top of the state taxes and we rank in the top five in states for taxes.

Oh great. Now I think I've given myself a cardiac event

As you consider which state has your new home three come to mind for income tax, Texas, Tennessee and Florida. I know that Texas also has some kind of agricultural tax on the value of the land that is designed to keep the farmer in business.

One of these years, I may get the hang of this forum thing. I see something 14 pages back, I smile and nod in agreement, then I get to the end of the thread and forget what it was . . . .

@Puddin Fluff Great news! Keeping the bright ones interested can be so tough - but having him so far away from home is bound to be tough, too. Kids growing up . . . .*sniff*

As I think I've said before (probably even on this thread), my husband and I have a joke about the Saucer Magnolias predicting the last frost of the season. When we see the blooms starting to open, we know it's time; frost makes such a mess of the gorgeous big pink blooms. Earlier this week, I saw one in bloom, but I guess it just wasn't going to be bothered this year - it had maybe 5 blooms on a tree about 15 feet tall and as wide. Poor baby - but yep, it got zapped. Oh, well.
