Llama therapy!!!

Well, this was my first year to do shearing and I won't be winning any awards but my herd won't overheat either, so that's good.

I think this girl turned out the best. Of course she was my last victim.

I am hoping this will be a llama mama in the fall.

Chest and belly are the critical areas. She has a pond to soak in and as long as I got her barrel done she will be fine. The extent of the shear is optional. Some people don't shear but you run the risk of heat exhaustion, especially in the south.

Star I gave a front cut because she had not had her chest sheared for at least two years and her wool, hair, fiber whatever you want to call it was almost in dreadlocks from the matting.

Shaboom had a more extensive shear last year so her chest isn't as bad. When they are matted their fiber holds in heat more. Plus, it's my understanding that the barrel is where the best fiber is for folks using it for spinning and such.
