Part of chicken math too is the justifying or counting for people who WANT to know... So Chicks dont count as chickens... Cockrels either because they are going to freezer camp... Oh and the hen in the garage dont count because shes got a boo boo....

Stuff like that. I am still amazed at where you live and you are able to have roosters.

Oh, and Bamadude------shhhhhhhh, don't tell anybody but my DH retired in his fifties (they did a great early buyout package for employees with enough years in when they did some downsizing) drumroll please,  from THE home plant of MILLER BREWING! It was funny because I was working for a time at the Gardetto snack factory where our primary products were different forms of pretzels.   So I made the pretzels and DH made the beer!  

Give me the Coffee first and afterwards I'll take the Love, cause I'll be revved up and rearing to go, lol!

That's okay. It took me a while to learn chicken math, but I'll share what I think is the most important part:
Try to have your end number come out as small as possible, that way you always have an excuse to get more chickens.

cleaned brooder
cleaned out chicken coop
push mowed around the trees in the yard
dunked a chicken from heat stress
broke a broodie *really 4.5 years and she decides a 102 deg day to wanna sit eggs

What breed of chicken? I had several Phoenix and Phoenix Bantam pullets/hens that had the same "look" from that which is viewable. Let me tell you I have had girls with spurs. At first I thought they were young cockerels and I had read Toni Marie Astin had girls with spurs and I had gotten eggs from Aubrey Webb and he had gotten poultry from Toni Marie Astin. My saying when I read it, I want girls with spurs. Turned out I had gotten girls with spurs as eggs that I hatched and raised for a short time and gave away to a friend. We believed them to be male. She just let the go roam and and let them get older with some meat on those bones but that did not happen (putting some meat on those bones) and when she was preparing them one at a time, she discovered an egg in the butchering process! So, good luck.

Yeah, I've seen girls with spurs. I've heard of hens (known, laying hens) crowing in the absence of a rooster and roosters (crowing, mating roosters) brooding eggs.

I mean when my hubby asked how many am I down to, I do not include eggs, do not include chicks, well if it does not lay and egg I usually dont count. So when he tells me I have that many in Roosters alone I play dumb. Really I grumble, those crazy hens always hiding their eggs so they can hatch them.....and I procede to try and count them as they are bobing their sweet heads up and down in the garden and say I give up, I can not count them. I am down to 100. I guess, that is... I I dont count the eggs, the chicks, and such. Hey I just gsve away around 100 just recently because I did not want to take them to a flock swap and expose them to germs so I made sure I gave them away and their were no other chickens around when I handed them over. Met up with people during the week at different TSCs and gave them the chickens.

Once again referring to chicken math, due to losses, etc. I am down to 2 2yr old red sex-links and 3 1 yr old Aussie girls! I have room in my coop for at least twice that many!!! How could this happen!!!

I really, really, really want a couple blue Aussie girls but don't know how to get hold of any

They are starting to lift some of the restrictions here but the state is still banning most bird shows, swap meets, etc. and I'm not even sure anyone in WI even has blue Aussies anyway. Bummer.

Wait, we're not fancy coffee drinkers? Or we're not snobbish?
Either way, we'll try to convert him and keep him in the meantime. hehehe
Maybe you can travel outside the state and buy some from a breeder, hatchery, or feed store? I hope you get your blue Aussie girls!!!!!
